St Kent’s Irish Club in South Manchester which has strong links to County Mayo and helps sponsor the Mayo Manchester Tradfest has just scooped the Club Mirror National Award for ‘Charity Club of the Year 2019’ for its fundraising events which have now raised over £1.75 million for different charities.
Kevin Fitzpatrick the manager of the popular St Kentigern’s Irish Club in Fallowfield in South Manchester is pictured here with his Parish Priest Cannon Michael Cleary and his son Louie and some of the parishioners at the Church next to the club.
Kevin has just picked up his 14th National Award since he took over the club in 2002 and has helped to raise over £1.75 million for different charities in the functions that are staged at the club by different organisations and individuals in Manchester.
When asked about how he felt about raising such a massive amount for charity and being the recipient of another award Kevin replied “I am happy to accept the award on behalf of everyone who has staged a charity event at the venue and the people who have come along to support it. We hit just over a £1 million in 2012 and our target is £2 million by 2025.”
Tony Hennigan from the Mayo Manchester added “Kevin puts his heart and soul into the club and it is great to see it giving so much back to the community. People really appreciate the work that Kevin and his hard working team at the club to help various charities in Manchester and around the globe, the amount he has helped raise is phenomenal and it’s a life changing amount of money for those charities that they have supported.”
One of Kevin’s favourite charities is Irish Community Care and the club hosts a special Christmas Party for the group and its volunteers. On St Patrick’s Day he always host a special St Patrick’s Day breakfast during the Manchester Irish Festival with all the profits donated to the charity to support their work.
