Now established as one of Manchester’s most popular Irish Dancing Schools, the class is run by the young and lively Irish Dancing Teachers - Louise Keegan and Ciara Kennedy. Louise is the choreographer of the award winning ‘Young, Gifted & Green (2008 winners of Pride of Eireann & 2001 Mayo Youth Millennium Award)’ and Ciara Kennedy was a former dancer with the world famous Riverdance troupe.

The young teachers said, "The School has really taken off, we have been inundated with students wanting to join the class It is great to see a mixture of boys and girls coming along which adds to the social aspect of the classes. But it is not just for young people, we have a very popular Adults class where people just come along to keep fit or for the craic. We are delighted that we based at St Kentigern's Social Club - as it is one of the best venues for Irish dance in South Manchester."

Dancers from the school are heavily involved with the local Irish community putting on dancing displays and getting involved in theatre productions as well as practising for competitions. Highlights have included their involvement with Young, Gifted & Green performing sell out shows at prestigious venues such as the Lowry Theatre and the ALL FM Radio’s Full Irish Festival www.thefullirish.net which attracted over 4,000 visitors. They have also performed on a regular basis during the annual Levenshulme Festival www.levenshulmefestival.co.uk and the Manchester Irish Festival www.manchesteririshfestival.co.uk. The troupe’s TV appearances have included slots on Manchester’s channel M TV and Louise has choreographed shows for BBC’s Songs of Praise, Blue Peter and Look Northwest along Granada TV and Sky TV.

The School runs a number of special dance workshops with Lord of the Dance Lead dancer – James Keegan often popping in from a break in his touring to lead them. The school will allow students to enrol from the age of three "there is a big drive towards getting young people to exercise more and Irish dancing is an ideal way to keep fit."

The dance classes will take place every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Saint Kentigern's Social Club, Hart Road, Fallowfield
